Thanks Sebastian
The arrival of Formula 1 in Saudi Arabia does not only represent speed and the fight for the title, something that Sebastian Vettel knows perfectly. The Aston Martin driver has expressed his posture off the track and in addition to receiving millions of compliments, he makes an important difference in social terms.
Before Practice 1, the German rented a go-kart track and invited seven women to race. #RaceForWomen allowed Vettel to know the situation in the country from the most unique point of view.
“I tried to pass on a bit of my experience in life and the track so that their confidence grows. Obviously, in Saudi Arabia women have been allowed to drive since 2017 and some have their license but others do not. Some are fans of Formula 1, others had nothing to do with motorsports until today, "explained the four-time world champion.
It is also true that Sebastian Vettel is not the only one who seeks to generate a change in Arabia, as Lewis Hamilton said he felt very uncomfortable racing in a country that does not respect human rights. He said that he did not want to go to that country and that he was there just for sports.
Meeting a group of women on the track is not Sebastian Vettel's only great gesture in Arabia. The hashtag #RaceForWomen also appears on the helmet that the Aston Martin driver will wear throughout the weekend of activity and that's just the beginning.
Like most of his country, Vettel defends the rights of the LGBTQ + community tooth and nail. In previous races like Hungary, he spoke out in favor of this fight due to the restrictions that exist in that nation. He now he did something similar on the penultimate date of the year, with iconic tennis shoes that were noticed by fans.
At his press conference in Arabia with Alonso, Sebastian Vettel wore white Converse that also show off the rainbow flag to show his support and solidarity.
